The Mini-Monster® Screw System is a cannulated screw system containing headed and headless 2.0 mm, 2.5 mm, 3.0 mm, 3.5 mm and 4.0 mm screws. Every detail was scrutinized that went into the design of these screws–emerging with a screw that comes with a “Monster” bite and a noteworthy amount of options. We set the goal of being inclusive and respectful of individual surgeon’s preferences knowing that there is more than one way to a successful outcome. The Mini-Monster® Screw System gives the surgeon the flexibility to change the type of screw used intraoperatively between headless and headed, as well as partially threaded and fully threaded and in select sizes, long threads are available.
Paragon 28®’s Design Rationale
We didn’t want your headless screw to strip. Studies have shown that the larger the pitch differential between the proximal and distal pitch of the screws, the higher likelihood of creating compression early and stripping out the distal threads of the screw. Because of this, we engineered a new screw concept where the pitch differential between proximal and distal screw threads is minimized and compression is gained from a tapered neck of the screw. The controlled compression provided by the tapered neck of the screw is thus “locked-in” by the proximal threads, intending not to exceed what the distal thread purchase can tolerate. Engineering optimization was performed to minimize the risk of exceeding the purchase potential of the distal threads.
