The Gorilla® Pilon Fusion Plating System is designed to address complex pilon fractures requiring primary tibiotalar fusion, particularly in cases of severe comminution or compromised bone. Developed in collaboration with leading orthopedic trauma and orthopedic foot and ankle surgeons, this system offers anatomically contoured, low-profile plates and robust instrumentation optimized for both open and percutaneous techniques.
The system includes two plate families:
Each plate is available in three lengths (Short, Medium, Long) to match a range of patient anatomies. The anterolateral plate incorporates a Ø5.5 mm screw slot for crossing Monster® screw placement across the tibiotalar joint, providing axial compression when fusion is indicated. The plate design features reinforced spanning geometry to support stability through comminution zones.
All circular plate holes accept Ø2.7 mm, Ø3.5 mm, and Ø4.2 mm locking and non-locking screws, as well as Ø3.5 mm compact thread screws. Optional instrumentation includes the Backpack Drill Guide for guided distal screw placement and percutaneous trocars for minimally invasive proximal fixation. The system is compatible with the Gorilla® Ankle Fracture 360™ platform.
