The Gorilla® Ankle Fracture Pilon Plating System includes 26 plates all of which include a transitional thickness to ensure adequate strength at the fracture site and tapering away from the fracture site to limit soft tissue irritation. The system includes three plating families: Anterior Distal Tibia Plates, Anterolateral Distal Tibia Plates, and Medial Distal Tibia Plates.
All plates were designed to allow for adequate strength at and around the fracture site while ensuring the construct is not so rigid to cause stress fractures in the tibia following implantation. The distal clustering of the Anterior and Anterolateral Plates was optimized to match the surface area and contouring of the distal tibia to maximize capture of fragments. The Distal Anterior Plates offer nine holes of capture and an increased thickness directly above the plafond. The Anterolateral Plates offer seven holes of capture and an increased thickness at the plafond and as the plate transitions medially along the tibia. The distal clustering of the Distal Medial Tibia Plates matches the surface area of the medial malleolus and allows for up to seven points of fixation
Anterior Distal Tibia Plates
1.8 mm thickness with increased transitional thickness just above the distal cluster for increased strength and stability
Symmetrical
Nine-hole distal cluster maximizing capture of distal fragments
13 and 15-hole plates include a proximal slotted hole to aid in plate positioning
Total Plates: 3
11-hole, 13-hole, 15-hole
Anterolateral Distal Tibia Plates
1.8 mm thickness tapers distally with increased transitional thickness just above the distal cluster for increased strength and stability
Left and right specific
Seven-hole distal cluster maximizing capture of distal fragments
Proximal portion of plate is curved to capture the anterior surface of the tibia and designed to allow for restoration of length and tibial axis
Proximal slotted hole aids in positioning the plate proximally or distally
Total Plates: 16

Medial Distal Tibia Plates
1.8 mm transitional thickness allows for increased strength and stability just above the distal cluster and thinning proximally and distally to limit soft tissue disruption
Symmetrical
Seven-hole distal cluster of screws matches the surface area of the medial malleolus to maximize capture of distal fragments
Proximal slotted hole aids in positioning the plate proximally or distally
