axIOLink® PCFD Tether System

Addressing the Primary Driver of Progressive Collapsing Foot Deformity

Product Overview

The axIOLink® PCFD Tether System is designed to address Progressive Collapsing Foot Deformity (PCFD) by reconstructing the Interosseous Talocalcaneal Ligament (ITCL)—the primary stabilizer of the subtalar joint and a key contributor to peritalar subluxation.1-4

Utilizing a minimally invasive soft-tissue reconstruction approach, the system enables surgeons to restore subtalar alignment while supporting concurrent spring ligament and deltoid ligament reconstruction procedures.

Why ITCL Reconstruction Matters

Peritalar Subluxation (Class D PCFD) is increasingly recognized as the primary pathomechanical driver of symptomatic PCFD.1-4 Attenuation of the Interosseous Talocalcaneal Ligament leads to loss of the talocalcaneal rotational tether, resulting in:

  • Subtalar joint instability
  • Hindfoot valgus progression
  • Talocalcaneal divergence
  • Sinus tarsi impingement
  • Subfibular impingement
  • Progressive collapse of the medial arch

The axIOLink® PCFD Tether System is designed to directly address this pathology through anatomic ITCL reconstruction and restoration of the subtalar joint center of rotation.
