The Monster® BITE Snap-Off Screw System is an all-inclusive set housing 22 implants as well as the accompanying instrumentation. The 2.0 mm screws are offered in two thread lengths (1/2 and ¾ thread) and are available in lengths from 8-16 mm. The 2.7 mm screws are offered with one thread length (1/2 thread) and are available in lengths from 10-24 mm. The instrumentation provided in the system is designed to help maintain bony alignment during screw placement. The Weil Clamp is intended to help provide maintenance of the osteotomy while placing the Monster® BITE Snap-Off Screw. Likewise, the counter lever was designed to help to prevent stripping of the screw or osteotomy fragment shift while manually breaking the pin from the screw in instances where the pin does not break away when the screw head hits the cortex.
Design Rationale
The Monster® BITE Snap-Off Screws were designed to break away from the pin at unique torque values which correspond to each screw diameter, thread length and screw length. This design is intended to seat the screw with the head flush against the bone, minimizing prominence. Additionally, the breakaway point is below the head of the screw, which also contributes toward the reduction of soft tissue irritation.
